Description

4-[(4-Methoxybenzylidene)amino]azobenzene is a liquid crystal compound that has been studied extensively by the use of spectroscopy and proton magnetic resonance. It has been shown to have a constant, which means that the frequency of the light emitted from this compound does not change with time. 4-[(4-Methoxybenzylidene)amino]azobenzene has also been shown to produce magnetic fields when exposed to an external magnetic field. These fields are highly dependent on the orientation of the molecule with respect to the applied field. The anisotropic nature of this compound can be seen in its permeability, which changes with direction.
