Magnoflorine chloride is a quaternary alkaloid that has shown to be an effective inhibitor of the enzyme cyclooxygenase. It is used in cancer therapy and as a treatment for cardiovascular diseases. Magnoflorine chloride reverses the effects of przewalstidinine, stephania, stephenanthrine, reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC) techniques, and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). In vivo studies have shown it to be able to reduce aristolochic acid-induced nephropathy.
