Description

Muzigadial is a protein target inhibitor that is used as an anthelmintic drug. It has been shown to be effective against human pathogens and parasites. Muzigadial binds to the active site of acetylcholinesterase, thereby preventing the hydrolysis of acetylcholine. This leads to increased levels of acetylcholine and increased muscular contractions in the gastrointestinal tract, which causes intestinal peristalsis and expulsion of worms. Muzigadial also inhibits human liver enzymes, such as carboxylesterases, with its molecular docking analysis and has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties due to its ability to decrease prostaglandin synthesis.Image taken by Maarten Vanhove (cc-by-sa) - Jul 30, 2022
