Description

Methyl 2,6-dihydroxybenzoate is a molecule that contains a hydroxyl group in its structure. It can be used to diagnose certain metabolic disorders, such as indian citric aciduria and 4-methoxystilbene synthase deficiency. Methyl 2,6-dihydroxybenzoate also has the ability to form an intramolecular hydrogen bond with itself. This ability makes it an effective inhibitor of phosphatases that are involved in the metabolism of glycerolipids and lipoproteins.
