Myricitrin is a flavonoid that is found in the bark of Myrica cerifera. It has been shown to inhibit the activity of acetycholine esterase, leading to accumulation of acetylcholine in the synapse and increased locomotor activity. This compound also inhibits cancer cell proliferation and induces apoptosis in hCT-116 cells. Myricitrin dihydrate (MyrDH) has been shown to have anti-oxidant properties, which may be due to its ability to scavenge reactive oxygen species and inhibit lipid peroxidation.
