Description :
a-Me-D-Asp-OH is an imino acid that is chiral and has a stereogenic center. It can exist in two different configurations, depending on the configuration of the amino acid backbone. The stereochemical outcome of this reaction depends on the relative orientation of the alkylating agent, as well as steric and electronic effects. This compound has been synthesized by reacting DL-2-aminobutyric acid with methyl bromoacetate.
