Informations sur le produit
Poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) is a hydrophilic polymer with the general formula HO-CH2-CH2-O-(CH2)n-H. It has many uses in medicine and other fields, including as an excipient for pharmaceutical products and as a coating for medical devices. The PEG molecule is linear, flexible, and non-toxic to humans. Poly(ethylene glycol) is also used to make nanoparticles that can be used in research or in drug delivery. These nanoparticles are typically made by adding a monomer that will be polymerized into the PEG chain. One example of such a monomer is the active ester methacrylate, which attaches to the PEG chain through an ester linkage. This polymerized form of poly(ethylene glycol) can then be used as a fluorescent label or as an encapsulating material for other molecules such as drugs or proteins.
