5-Methylfuran-2-boronic acid, pinacol ester is an anion with a heteroaromatic structure. Its affinity for electron-deficient centers in organic molecules has been used as the basis for its use in organic synthesis and catalysis. The compound can be synthesized by reacting 5-methylfuran-2-boronic acid with pinacol under basic conditions. Modifications to the pinacol molecule have led to increased stability and better solubility properties.
