Description

3-Nitro-1,2-phenylenediamine is a chemical compound that has been shown to inhibit the activity of matrix metalloproteinases. It also possesses anti-inflammatory properties, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the production of prostaglandins. 3-Nitro-1,2-phenylenediamine has also been shown to have an effect on glycogen synthesis and histidine incorporation into proteins. This compound is used in coordination chemistry as a ligand for metal ions. 3-Nitro-1,2-phenylenediamine can bind to the iron atom in heme proteins such as hemoglobin and myoglobin.
