1-(2-Naphthyl)ethanamine is a diastereomer of the compound 1-(2-naphthyl)ethanol. It is used as a reagent in organic chemistry, specifically as a Grignard reagent. 1-(2-Naphthyl)ethanamine can be synthesized by reacting guanosine with primary amines in the presence of chloride and sulfinyl chloride. It has been shown to react with other functional groups such as chlorides, sulfinyle, and methanol. The enantiomer is easily purified using chromatography methods.
