Calcium b-hydroxy-b-methylbutyrate monohydrate is a dietary supplement that has been shown to be effective in the treatment of skin conditions such as eczema. It is a calcium salt of the natural fatty acid, b-hydroxy-b-methylbutyrate, which is naturally found in kidney beans. This product may also be used for kidney disease and other health care products. The extract from this compound has been shown to increase collagen production in skin cells, as well as protein synthesis and casein production. Calcium b-hydroxy-b-methylbutyrate monohydrate can also bind with acetate (a chemical compound) and form calcium acetate, which has been shown to have antihypertensive effects.
