Description

3-(N-Methylamino)-L-alanine is an experimental drug that belongs to the group of glutamate receptor antagonists. It is structurally similar to other glutamate antagonists such as 3-aminopropylglycine, but it has a lower potency and a longer half-life. 3-(N-Methylamino)-L-alanine has been shown to have locomotor activity in experimental animals and can be used for the treatment of chronic neuropathic pain. In addition, this compound has been shown to induce neuronal death in cultured cells at high concentrations and cause toxicity in rats after chronic oral administration.
