Informations sur le produit
5-Nitro-1H-imidazole-2-carboxylic acid (5NIC) is a white to light yellow crystalline powder that is soluble in water and alcohol. It has been used as an intermediate for the synthesis of sulfamethoxazole, metronidazole, and nitroimidazoles. 5NIC is also used as a reagent for the preparation of amides. The compound can be synthesized by reacting diethanolamine with phosphorous oxychloride to form 1,2-dichloropropane, which reacts with nitric acid to produce 5NIC. 5NIC has been shown to be effective against histomoniasis and amoebiasis in chickens. In addition, it can inhibit the growth of Mycobacterium tuberculosis, Mycobacterium avium complex, and Staphylococcus aureus.
