Description

19-Nortestosterone sulphate, sodiumsalt is a topical ophthalmic steroid that is used to treat inflammation of the eye. It is a white powder that is soluble in water and alcohol. 19-Nortestosterone sulphate, sodiumsalt can be used in conjunctival infections and as a treatment for corneal ulcers. This drug has been shown to have an anti-inflammatory effect on keratocytes and also inhibits the growth of bacteria by chemically reacting with the epithelium. 19-Nortestosterone sulphate, sodiumsalt also has a weak metallic taste when administered orally. The mechanism of action for this drug is not fully understood but it may cause necrosis of the lamellar keratocytes under the microscope.
19-Nortestosterone sulphate, sodiumsalt is applied topically to wounds and injuries in order to prevent infection and promote healing. It has been shown to reduce inflammatory reactions by inhibiting chemotaxis
