Description

3-Nitro-4-phenoxy-5-sulfamoylbenzoic acid is a pyridine derivative that is used as an ingredient in food to impart yellow color. The compound has been shown to be a potent inhibitor of bacterial permeation, with inhibitory activity against Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. 3-Nitro-4-phenoxy-5-sulfamoylbenzoic acid can be used for the detection of fluorescence in soil samples. It also has an absorption maximum at 486 nm, which makes it suitable for use as a fluorescent dye. 3-Nitro-4-phenoxy-5-sulfamoylbenzoic acid is commonly used as a fluorophore for assays and is soluble in solvents such as water, acetone, and acetonitrile. This compound also has a linear range of 2-8 micrometers in solution.
