Description

O-(2-nitrobenzyl)-l-tyrosine hydrochloride is a stable covalent inhibitor of human tyrosinase, which is an enzyme that catalyzes the first two steps in the synthesis of melanin. This drug has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells in culture and has been used to treat bone cancer in animal models. O-(2-nitrobenzyl)-l-tyrosine hydrochloride also inhibits inflammatory responses by inhibiting enzyme activity, thereby preventing the production of proinflammatory cytokines such as TNF-α and IL1β. This drug binds to active enzymes, which may lead to intracellular targets.
