4-Nitro-2-aminophenol-6-sulfonic acid is an organic compound that is a member of the class of sulfonic acids. It has the chemical formula of CHNO, and its molecular weight is 154.11 g/mol. This chemical can be found in the environment as a result of formaldehyde oxidation and salicylic acid decomposition. 4-Nitro-2-aminophenol-6-sulfonic acid has been used in the manufacture of acetoacetates, formaldehydes, and acrylic acids. The reaction between this chemical and potassium sulfate produces diazo, which is then used to produce other chemicals such as sulfanilate or sulfonic group. 4-Nitro-2-aminophenol-6-sulfonic acid has acidic properties that make it useful for complex reactions with salicylic acid.
