Description

2-Nitrobenzenesulfenyl chloride is a molecule that binds to the active site of α1-acid glycoprotein and inhibits the enzyme. It is used as an analytical tool in determining the presence of α1-acid glycoprotein in human serum or other biological samples. The inhibition of this enzyme leads to increased levels of basic proteins, such as creatine kinase, which can then be detected by certain methods. This molecule has also been shown to have receptor binding properties, which may be related to its inhibitory effects on α1-acid glycoprotein.
