Ne-Allyloxycarbonyl-L-lysine is an amide compound that has been shown to have antibacterial activity. It is synthesized by a solid-phase synthesis using monomers and piperidine as the terminating agent. Ne-Allyloxycarbonyl-L-lysine is a weak acid, with a pH of 3.5. The antibacterial activity of this compound has been shown in cell culture and tissue culture experiments. The nealloyl group increases the dissolution rate of the molecule, which may help increase its bioavailability. Ne-Allyloxycarbonyl-L-lysine can modulate cellular processes such as protein synthesis and cell division.
