• Description: 1-(4-Nitrophenyl)-2-nitropropene is a chemical compound that is used as a reagent, intermediate, and building block in the synthesis of other compounds. It can be used as a precursor for the production of aniline derivatives, which are useful in the manufacture of dyes and pharmaceuticals. 1-(4-Nitrophenyl)-2-nitropropene is also useful as a scaffold for the synthesis of other compounds. It reacts with sodium hydroxide to produce sodium nitrite and 4-nitrocatechol. This compound has also been shown to be an effective way to synthesize acetic acid from acetaldehyde.
