β-Naphthoic acid ethyl ester (BNAE) is a synthetic compound that has been used as an intermediate in the synthesis of organic compounds. It is also used to prepare hydroxamic acids, which are active methylene compounds. BNAE reacts with nucleophiles and is susceptible to nucleophilic attack.
