Description

1-Naphthylacetyl spermine trihydrochloride is an experimental drug that has been shown to have the ability to inhibit glutamate receptors. It has been observed in tissue culture and whole-cell recordings that 1-naphthylacetyl spermine trihydrochloride inhibits neuronal death and this activity can be attributed to its ability to bind with glutamate receptors. 1-Naphthylacetyl spermine trihydrochloride has also been shown to have a positive effect on bowel disease, which may be due to its effect on glutamate receptors. 1-Naphthylacetyl spermine trihydrochloride is being studied as a potential treatment for prostate cancer cells, as it inhibits their growth when used in combination with other drugs. The effectiveness of 1-naphthylacetyl spermine trihydrochloride against prostate cancer cells is not clear because its mechanism of action is unknown.
