It has been shown to inhibit the activity of G protein-coupled receptors, including Ligand receptor interactions. Pyrazolo(3,4-D)pyrimidine is also an activator of the extracellular signal regulated kinases 1/2 (ERK1/2), which are signaling molecules involved in cell growth, differentiation and survival. This agent has been shown to activate the ERK1/2 pathway by binding to a specific sequence in the cytoplasmic domain of epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR). Pyrazolo(3,4-D)pyrimidine is known as a high purity compound and has been shown to inhibit antibody production in some cases.
