Description

Levosulpiride is a drug that belongs to the class of anti-psychotics. It is an antipsychotic agent that has been shown to be effective in treating bowel disease, cancer, and heart disease. The mechanism of action of levosulpiride is thought to be due to its ability to decrease levels of dopamine and serotonin in the brain. Levosulpiride may also have anti-inflammatory properties, which are mediated by inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis. Levosulpiride has been shown to inhibit translation and protein synthesis at high doses and cause symptoms such as dry mouth, dizziness, blurred vision, constipation or diarrhea, insomnia or sleepiness, anxiety or agitation. Levosulpiride is a synthetic compound with an ester group that can react with nucleophiles such as water or hydroxyl ions.
