4-Oxo-4-phenylaminobutenoic acid is a sodium salt of 4-oxo-4-phenylaminobutanoic acid. It is used to treat cancer, and can be synthesized from anhydrous sodium carbonate and phenylacetic acid. This organic compound has been shown to have the ability to inhibit the growth of human liver cells in culture, which may be due to its ability to form an acid complex with hydrochloric acid and carbonyl groups. 4-Oxo-4-phenylaminobutenoic acid also has kinetic data, including activation energies and rate constants.
