gamma-Octalactone is a chemical substance that belongs to the group of fatty acids. It has inhibitory properties and can be used as an active ingredient in fragrances. Gamma-octalactone inhibits the synthesis of fatty acids, which are essential for cell growth, by inhibiting the enzyme acyl-CoA synthetase.
