1-Oxo-1,2,3,4-tetrahydronaphthalene-2-carbaldehyde is a chiral compound with the chemical structure of an organic cyclic compound. It has a 6 membered heterocyclic ring. This substance is also known as pyrollo and is used in organic chemistry for the synthesis of squaramide analogs. 1-Oxo-1,2,3,4-tetrahydronaphthalene-2-carbaldehyde can be prepared through an organocatalytic reaction using oleum as the catalyst and benzyl bromide or benzyl chloride as the starting material. The yields are high when pyridyl methides are used as a substructure. The chromophore in this molecule absorbs light at 430 nm.
