Description

2-Octyldodecan-1-ol is a fatty alcohol that is used as a lubricant and surfactant in cosmetic products. It has been shown to have surface coating properties, which may be due to its ability to form hydrogen bonds with hydroxyl groups at the surface of the skin. 2-Octyldodecan-1-ol is also known for its biological effects, such as anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties. This compound has been shown to inhibit bacterial growth by inhibiting membrane synthesis and by binding to fatty acids in the cell wall.
