Informations sur le produit
Atorvastatin is a drug that belongs to the group of HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors. It inhibits the synthesis of cholesterol by competitively binding to the enzyme, which prevents the formation of mevalonate, an intermediate in the biosynthesis of cholesterol. This drug also has been shown to have a number of beneficial effects on lipoproteins and vascular function. Atorvastatin has been shown to decrease low density lipoprotein (LDL) and total cholesterol levels while increasing high density lipoprotein (HDL) levels. This drug may also protect against coronary heart disease, as it inhibits inflammation and plaque formation in arteries.
Atorvastatin binds to erythrocytes and is metabolized through hydrolysis by esterases or glucuronidases, oxidation by cytochrome P450 enzymes, reduction by glutathione reductase, or conjugation with glucuronic acid.
