Description :
2E,13Z)-Octadecadienal is a mixture of enantiomers. It is an insecticidal compound that is effective against Lepidoptera. 2E,13Z)-Octadecadienal has been found to be non-toxic to mammals and birds in laboratory tests. The compound has a high boiling point, which makes it difficult to remove from products that are applied topically. This compound can be synthesized by reacting cyclohexanol with chlorinated hydrocarbons or organic solvents. 2E,13Z)-Octadecadienal can also be detected using gas chromatography with chemical ionization detection (GC/CI).
