• Description: Octenidine dihydrochloride is an antimicrobial agent that inhibits the growth of bacteria by interfering with their cell membrane. Octenidine dihydrochloride has been shown to be effective against a number of gram-negative bacteria, such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae and Enterobacter cloacae. It has synergistic effects when combined with eugenol and is used in dental hygiene products. Octenidine dihydrochloride also has some antimicrobial activity against gram-positive bacteria, such as Lactobacillus acidophilus and Streptococcus mutans. It can be used in agrochemical preparations for controlling growth of pathogenic fungi on plants.
