PDK1 inhibitor is a drug that inhibits the enzyme PDK1. It is used in vitro to study cellular physiology, especially malignant brain cancer cells. PDK1 inhibitor has been shown to inhibit the production of reactive oxygen species and mitochondrial membrane potential, which may be due to its inhibition of ATP synthesis. The drug also has an effect on autophagy, which is the process by which cells degrade their own components through lysosomes. This agent also has been shown to have antitumor effects in vivo, as it can reduce tumor size and weight in mouse models.
