The ionic parameters of H-Pro-His-Tyr-OH have been correlated with spectroscopic data and are dependent upon the pH and temperature. The conformational constants, including those for the intramolecular ionic species, have also been determined by titration methods. The chromophore in H-Pro-His-Tyr-OH is quenched in acidic solutions, but becomes excited in basic solutions. This can be used to determine the pH of a solution.
