Description

Phenylhydrazono)malononitrile is a chemical compound that has been used as a biological treatment for infectious diseases. It has been shown to inhibit the mitochondrial membrane potential and adenine nucleotide levels in cells, which prevents the production of ATP. This may lead to cell death by inhibiting metabolic processes. Phenylhydrazono)malononitrile also inhibits the p2y receptor, which is responsible for the uptake of ATP and other nucleotides, which are needed for bacterial replication. This antibiotic binds to the proton pump in bacteria, thereby blocking its function and causing cell death.br>br>
