1-Phenyl-N-(2-thienylmethyl)methanamine is a small molecule that exhibits immunomodulatory effects. It has been shown to be an effective antidote for the treatment of human serum albumin (HSA) and hemoglobin (Hb) based contaminants in intravenous infusions. 1-Phenyl-N-(2-thienylmethyl)methanamine has been shown to inhibit antibody production and T cell proliferation in vitro, as well as to suppress inflammatory cytokine responses in vivo. The drug also inhibits the growth of bacteria and fungi by binding to microbial cell surfaces, thereby preventing the bacteria from attaching to or invading host cells.
