- Pomiferin (flavonoid)
Pomiferin is a natural compound that has antioxidant properties. It has been shown to have anti-inflammatory, anticarcinogenic and cardioprotective activities in vitro. Pomiferin inhibits the activity of cyclic nucleotide phosphodiesterases and has significant cytotoxicity against colorectal adenocarcinoma cells. Pomiferin also inhibits the production of prostaglandins, which are involved in the inflammatory response, by inhibiting acetate extract. This property may be due to its ability to inhibit enzyme activities such as cyclic nucleotide phosphodiesterases.
