Description

4-Propylphenylboronic acid is an organic compound that belongs to the class of boronic acids. It has been shown to be a good oxidizing agent and can use inorganic or organic reducing agents as electron acceptors. 4-Propylphenylboronic acid has been used for oxidative cyclizations, such as the synthesis of 3-hydroxypyridin-2(1H)-ones from 2-hydroxybenzaldehyde. This compound also has a high diffusivity and morphology that enables it to be recycled and reused in reactions. 4-Propylphenylboronic acid is commonly used as a catalyst in aerobic oxidation reactions, such as the conversion of 1,4-dimethoxybenzene into methyl catechols.
