The binding between 1-(prop-2-yn-1-yl)piperidine and its target is reversible, so it can be used as a drug candidate for treating diseases caused by oxidative stress. The major reaction product formed when 1-(prop-2-yn-1-yl)piperidine interacts with 2,4 dichlorophenolindophenol (DCPIP) is 2,4 dichloroacetic acid (DCA). This reaction product can be detected by chemical ionization mass spectrometry.
