Description

Platycodin D2 is a bioactive compound found in the root of Platycodon grandiflorum. It has been shown to inhibit a number of enzyme activities, including fatty acid synthase and prostaglandin synthase, as well as reducing the proliferation of cancer cells. Platycodin D2 also induces caspase-independent cell death in prostate cancer cells and 3T3-L1 preadipocytes. This compound induces transcriptional regulation and is found to induce antibody response in mice infected with infectious diseases. In addition, it has been shown to prevent tissue damage associated with hepatic steatosis and liver cancer tissues through its anti-inflammatory effects.
