This compound has also been used in solid-phase synthesis as a hydrogen bond donor to form supramolecular structures. 2,6-Pyridinedicarbonitrile is stable in air and water but reacts with oxidizing agents such as chlorine, bromine, iodine, nitric acid, or perchlorates.
