2-Phenyl-4-azaindole is a ligand that binds to the melatonin receptor. It is selective for the melatonin receptor and has few other known targets in cells. 2-Phenyl-4-azaindole has been shown to have high affinity for the melatonin receptors, with an IC50 of 0.06 nM in the rat brain. 2-Phenyl-4-azaindole is a class of ligands that are used in research on the function of the melatonin receptor.
