Phenyl (4-(4-(4-hydroxyphenyl)piperazin-1-yl)phenyl)carbamate is a piperazine derivative. It has been shown to have an inhibitory effect on bacterial growth and is active against Gram-positive bacteria. Phenyl (4-(4-(4-hydroxyphenyl)piperazin-1-yl)phenyl)carbamate is a carbamic acid that binds to the 50S ribosomal subunit of bacteria, preventing transcription and replication. The high frequency of human activity has been shown using a patch-clamp technique on human erythrocytes. This active form is metabolized through a number of metabolic transformations, including hydrolysis by esterases or glucuronidases, oxidation by cytochrome P450 enzymes, reduction by glutathione reductase, or conjugation with glucuronic acid.
