Description

Periplogenin is a natural compound that belongs to the group of curcuminoids. It is extracted from the rhizome of Curcuma aromatica and exhibits significant cytotoxicity against rat liver microsomes. Periplogenin has been shown to have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects in vitro, as well as a significant effect on congestive heart failure in vivo. The biological activity of Periplogenin is due to its ability to form a disulfide bond with glutathione, which stabilizes proteins, prevents protein aggregation, and modulates the immune system. Periplogenin has also been shown to be effective against autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and multiple sclerosis.
