Potassium 7-hydroxycoumarin sulphate is a synthetic compound that has been found to be active against some cancers in humans. It is an inhibitor of lipoprotein lipase, which breaks down triglycerides, and also inhibits the activity of aminotransferases, which are important for the metabolism of amino acids. The human liver can metabolize potassium 7-hydroxycoumarin sulphate into coumarin 7-sulphate, which has been shown to inhibit hepatic aminotransferase activity. Coumarins are also known for their chondroitin sulfate synthesis inhibition properties. This compound is most active at a pH of 6.5 with a maximum activity at pH 8.0 and it is not stable when exposed to light or heat.
