Description

Phthalamic acid is an organic compound that can be synthesized from trifluoroacetic acid and water vapor. It is used as a horticultural agent to retard the loss of water from plants. This compound has been shown to have physiological effects on humans, including autoimmune diseases and congestive heart failure. The reaction mechanism for this compound involves the formation of an anhydrous sodium salt, which reacts with hydroxyl groups to produce a nitro group. Phthalamic acid also has antioxidant properties due to the presence of a hydroxy group, which can react with reactive oxygen species such as nitric oxide.
