Description

Propranolol hydrochloride is a prodrug of the beta-adrenergic receptor antagonist, propranolol. The drug has been shown to have synergistic effects with an anti-PCSK9 antibody in the treatment of high cholesterol and other lipid disorders. It has also been shown to have anti-inflammatory effects on isolated heart cells. Propranolol hydrochloride has been shown to decrease blood pressure, reduce fatty acid levels in the bloodstream, and inhibit platelet aggregation. Propranolol hydrochloride is used in the treatment of cardiac arrhythmias, hypertension, and bowel disease such as inflammatory bowel disease.
