Description

Piperophos is a carbamate insecticide that inhibits the synthesis of lipids. It inhibits the fatty acid synthase enzyme, which catalyzes the first step in the biosynthesis of fatty acids, by binding to and inhibiting acetyl-CoA carboxylase. Piperophos also inhibits the activity of other enzymes involved in lipid metabolism, such as acyl-CoA thiolase and 3-hydroxyacyl-CoA dehydrogenase.
