Paspalic acid is an isomerizing agent that can be used in animal health. It can be used to convert the cis- form of fatty acids to the trans- form, which has been shown to have a more beneficial effect on blood pressure. Paspalic acid also has been shown to have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, as well as being a potential anticancer treatment. This chemical can inhibit the production of prostaglandins and thromboxanes by inhibiting cyclooxygenase and lipoxygenase activities in vitro. Paspalic acid also has been shown to induce apoptosis in cancer cells.
