2-Phenyl-2-(1-piperidinyl)propane (2PP) is a drug that inhibits the cytochrome P450 enzyme. 2PP has been shown to inhibit NADPH-cytochrome P450 reductase and clopidogrel activity, which are important for blood clotting. The chemical structure of 2PP is similar to tenofovir, an analog of this drug. 2PP was expressed in Escherichia coli with recombinant DNA techniques and was incubated with human liver microsomes. Test compounds were added at saturating concentrations to study their effects on enzyme activity. Clinical studies have been conducted to evaluate the potential benefits of this drug in treatment of cardiovascular diseases.
2PP is a potent inhibitor of cytochrome P450 enzymes, including CYP3A4, CYP3A5, and CYP2C9. It also inhibits clopidogrel activity by preventing the conversion of clop
