Description

Phenylglyoxylic acid is a metal-chelating agent that has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties. It binds divalent metal ions, such as copper and zinc, which are essential for the activation of pro-inflammatory enzymes. Phenylglyoxylic acid also inhibits decarboxylases, which are enzymes that break down neurotransmitters like serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine) and norepinephrine.
